Frida Kahlo & Diego Rivera Love Procession & Art Exhibition Starts December 7

On December 8th 1940 in a San Francisco City Hall court room Frida Kahlo married Diego Rivera for the second time. After the nuptials, Diego returned to his painting and Frida, being of ill health, returned to her room at the Hamilton Hotel…they never celebrated their re-union!

Sunday December 7th from 3 to 6 pm

Love Procession

3:00 pm Meet at 24th street Bart Station Plaza.

3:30 pm The Procession begins down 24th street heading to Pig & Pie.

What to Wear to a Frida and Diego Love procession?
*Flowers in your hair
*Overalls with paint
*Traditional Mexican clothing
*Bridesmaid’s dresses
*Since we’re redoing a celebration from 1940, feel free to come in your best 1940’s duds…maybe even a zoot suit!
*Comfortable shoes, although the walk is only a few blocks.

What to Bring to a love procession?
*Any kind of noise makers: rattles, drums, harmonicas, etc.
*Lots of Bubbles
*Umbrellas in case of rain

El 8 de diciembre de 1940 en una sala de tribunal de la alcaldia de San Francisco, Frida Kahlo se caso con Diego Rivera por segunda vez. Después de la boda , Diego volvió a sus murales y Frida, por estar de mal salud, regresó a su habitación en el Hotel Hamilton. Nunca celebraron su re-union.

Unanse con Fiestas Fridas San Francisco , Cine + Mas SF , Pig & Pie y La Calle 24 en la celebracion del 74º aniversario de la segunda boda con una procesión de amor y una exposicion de FRIDArte.

15:30 La procesión comienza bajando la calle 24 con dirección a Pig & Pie.

Qué ponerse para una procession de amor?
* Flores en su pelo
* Guardapolvos/Overalles con pintura
* Ropa tradicional mexicana
* Vestidos de dama de honor
* Ya que estamos haciendo de nuevo una celebración de 1940, no duden en venir vestidos de ropa de 1940…tal vez incluso un traje Zoot!
* Zapatos cómodos , aunque el paseo es de pocas cuadras.

Lo que debe traer a una procesión de amor?
* Cualquier tipo de fabricantes de ruido: sonajeros, tambores, armónicas, maracas, etc.
* Muchas burbujas
* Paraguas en caso de lluvia

Pichuco Screens Dec 5-6 in San Francisco, Tango doc & Performance

A documentary about Aníbal Troilo, an Argentine Tango giant, in celebration of his 100th birthday. Troilo’s music lives and enjoyed by tango dancers throughout the world. Directed by Martin Turnes.

Synopsis
A teacher at the Escuelar de Música Popular in Buenos Aires, Argentina, together with his students, took on the project of digitizing ~500 original, handwritten arrangements of Aníbal “Pichuco” Troilo orchestra. Through interviews of musicians from different generations and styles, this documentary takes us to a musical tour through the work of one of the most influential characters in the history of Tango and Argentine music.

The screening will be followed by a tango performance. Performances by some of the finest tango instructors and performers of the Bay Area, including Cristian Sierra and Casanova Tango, Doruk Golcu and Erin Malley, Jonas Aquino and Monza Lui.
